Pool Acid Wash Missouri City, TX | QPS Pool Remodeling

Missouri City Pool Acid Washing Services

Acid washing is the fastest and most cost-effective way to dramatically improve your pool’s appearance without the expense of a full replaster. This process removes a thin layer of surface buildup, revealing a cleaner, brighter finish underneath. If your pool walls look grey, blotchy, or perpetually dirty despite regular chemical treatments, an acid wash is likely what it needs.

Our professional acid wash service uses a controlled application of muriatic acid solution to strip the stained surface layer from your plaster — taking discoloration, scale, and algae staining with it. The process is carefully managed to remove only what’s necessary, preserving as much of your existing plaster as possible. Unlike repeated chemical shocks that never fully resolve the problem, an acid wash delivers a genuine reset — restoring a bright, clean finish that looks and feels refreshed.

Straight Talk — What You Need to Know

We don’t sugarcoat it, and you shouldn’t trust anyone who does. Hydrostatic pressure can, in rare occasions, cause the pool shell to shift or “pop.” To minimize risk, we avoid draining during heavy rain conditions and complete the work as quickly as possible.
Here’s what to honestly expect from an acid wash:

Acid washing removes a thin layer of plaster along with the stains.
The surface may feel slightly more textured afterward.
Color variations can occur depending on the condition of the plaster.
Older, delaminated plaster may react to being exposed to the air and may reveal existing flaws — not cause them.

Frequently Asked Questions

If your pool has visible algae staining, dark blotchy discoloration, or a dull, grey surface that won’t come clean despite regular chemical treatment, an acid wash is likely the right solution. Missouri City’s heat and hard water accelerate this kind of buildup, and once it penetrates the plaster, routine maintenance simply won’t resolve it. During your free consultation, our team will inspect your pool and let you know whether an acid wash is recommended or if resurfacing is a better long-term option.

Yes — when performed correctly by an experienced professional. An acid wash removes a very thin layer of plaster to expose the fresh surface beneath. Our team carefully controls the application to minimize plaster loss while fully eliminating staining and buildup. We do not recommend acid washing a pool that has been drained and washed multiple times, as repeated treatments can thin the plaster too much. We’ll assess your plaster’s condition upfront and give you an honest recommendation.

Most acid wash services in Missouri City are completed within 1–2 days. This includes draining the pool, applying and neutralizing the acid solution, rinsing the surface, and getting it ready for refill. The exact timeline depends on your pool’s size and the severity of staining. We’ll give you a clear schedule during your estimate so you know exactly what to expect.

Our process is designed to treat the plaster surface specifically, and we take precautions to protect your tile, coping, and surrounding features during the wash. If your tile also has calcium scale buildup, we may recommend combining the acid wash with our professional tile cleaning service for a complete restoration in a single visit.

Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Excellent experience. I had a small leak in my plumbing coming from the temp sensor. Other reputable companies in the area wanted me to replace my perfectly good filter and entire plumbing setup. These guys came out the same day and fixed it in less than an hour for a very reasonable price. You have earned my business. Job well done. Update: I wish I could give a 5 star review for every trip they have made to the house. As an owner of an older pool these guys have got it back in tip top shape. Thanks again. They are prompt, friendly, and have got every job done to perfection.

Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Mike at Quality Pools is a top notch operation. In addition to my weekly pool service, I contracted them to resurface my pool, which came out looking better than the original plaster job. Equally as important, I've been more than satisfied with the level of my weekly pool service - especially with quality of care provided by Jose Palomo.
